Think you've got issues ? My cars ready for changing, if it was in good nick it is only worth about £600 (04 mondeo 300k). BUT the DMF has started rattling so will need changing soon along with about another £200 quids of minor work.

So no-ones going to pay £600 for a car that needs about £1000 spending on it, and if I spend the £1000 I'd then only be able to sell for the £600 anyway. Basically the cars worthless, even if I gave it away the new owner would in effect be spending £1000 for a £600 vehicle.

The garage I deal with, knowing what needs doing has offered £300 'as is' or £700 if I trade in.

Oh for the days when you could buy a clutch kit for £30 and change it yourself in an afternoon, and service/repair the whole car using one screwdriver, spanner and hammer !

sasha, how many miles have YOU had it for?

is it the first DMF its needed or the second......third?

can you replate it again?

my LA gave me a years "licence" but only a 4 month plate, the next costs an extra £75, so will the september plate

and i was planning an aux belt + tensioner for easter

if the DMF lasts 5 weeks at 900 mile a week I think ill be lucky

What car is that on Wanna, you might be able to get a solid flywheel conversion kit for a quarter of the price of a DMF
You can for a Skoda

Mondeo Tdci 6 speed

I can get a SMF+clutch/CSC for about £250, im just nervous about what happens if it doesnt fit when that would mean a bigger bill to remove and fit a DMF

if a DMF has lasted 140k id hope a new one could as well and id be sold the car well before

I got it with 60k on the clock and this would be the fourth, maybe fifth, flywheel/clutch. Every 80k'ish regular as clockwork it needs one.
I can keep the car on for as long as it manages to pass the pit, our LA is one that imposes age limits for when the car is first licensed. But with 300k on the clock and nearly 8 years old it's starting to get a bit tired and more and more starts going wrong, is it worth paying more in repairs than the car is worth ? Why spend £800 on a DMF when I can get an identical car that needs no work doing for £600 ?

Just been on webuyanycar for a quote and they'd give me £400 (if it had 250k mileage) minus their £50 'processing' fee, rip-off merchants.

Get the Ford dealer to fit it then you will get a garantee with it.
I have just replaced my clutch and pressure plate along with a new release bearing, it was even cheaper than when I had the conversion done, conversion has done just over 150,000, as no flywheel was required this time, it did not actually need replacing but the release bearing was rattling and peeing me off so changed it anyway

I fancied these

seller has good feedback, the only one against the SMF/clutch is that the buyer expected FORD items...
