Taxi Driver Online

Hello everybody,

I recently purchased an out-of-service red FX4 Fairway for private use, which came without a car stereo. So I purchased one, and am a bit lost how to connect one to the other. I've attached pictures of the radio cable plug and the plug in the car stereo shaft.

After looking all over the internet to find information how to link them, I am none the wiser. Is someone in here able to tell me what missing link I need to look out for in order to make the car radio work in my FX4?

Have you tried Halfords. If you take the car and the sterio down to them, they may have the correct adaptor.

Any car stereo shop will sell you a adaptor for that if you pop in , probally cheaper than halfords

Ah, I see, you really haven't been to Halfords before, and you didn't realise that Halfords had electrical bits for cars.

Nor did you realise that 'car stereo shops' might have the bits you need.

Well, dear dusty, I apologise for having moved to the UK quite recently, and not being familiar with Halford's. There is no need to be rude or condescending as you just were. Now a piece of advice for you: if you can't contribute anything of value to my question, just don't hit the "submit" button.

Can I advise you follow some basic netiquette, namely that on such forums you have a look around and get a feel for the character and ethos before posting? To that extent you would have realised that by the standards on here I'm not rude and condescending at all, in fact I'm easily one of the most civil on here.

Also, surely since this is a 'UK cab trade' forum it might have been better to disclose the fact that you had just moved to the UK?

On seeing your username I assumed that you were quite possibly based overseas, but your response to grandad's initial point about Halfords obviously implied that you were in fact in the UK. But to that extent your response seemed rather odd and I could only assume that you were being sarcastic.

Likewise, Blackpool's rather obvious response to that lent the impression that there was at least a touch of sarcasm in the exchanges.

I then made a light-hearted comment in that regard, but in fact it was your own response that seemed rather terse, and your latest response seems to confirm that.

Anyway, I'm not one to cause gratuitous offence, and to that extent apologise for the tongue-in-cheek manner of my comments, and to that extent as with any other poster I will tailor any future exchanges with yourself in a manner that you will hopefully find more palatable.

As I'm not going to feed the troll in here, I will reply by PM, in hopes that my initial question might return to the focus of this thread. If you have assumed so many things, then let me clarify what I am looking for here: Is there a specific name to the connecting plug (the white one I took a picture of), so I might pay a visit to the seemingly obvious Halfords or other car stereo shops and ask?
