I recently solved a TX 2 intercom fault. This fault has also appeared on an 06 plate TX4 so thought I would share my findings.
Basically if your intercom works for the passenger but the driver cant hear it then in several cases have seen, I have traced it to nothing more than a dodgy speakers. Replacing both front speakers will cure the problem and improve your radio quality too. The way to check is to turn the radio on then remove the grill and gently press the speaker cone until it works - you will feel the speaker vibrate too if the volume is loud enough.

Also its worth checking the wires in the drivers door rubber connector as I have seen a couple with damaged wires or broken wires (blue with black stripe I think is the speaker wire which I found brocken) which caused the right speaker not to work and hence the intercom not to work).

Hope this helps as it seems the speakers on the older TX cabs are woeful. The factory changed the speakers in 2010 to JVC units so hopefully if your cab has these and an intercom fault then its the drivers door loom that needs looking at.

Of course this is only what I have found but hopefully it will save you time and expense in the future.
