hi to all i am new to this forum. ive been driving black and white cabs as far as i can remember, when i started taxi drivers could easily take home £700 for a 5 day shift now a days its impossible. taking home £350 thats if i put my hours in. paying for taxi repairs is getting more and more ridiculous and not to add the soaring prices of fuel how are we suppose to survive. every time i have a problem with my car im always trying out new garages but until recently i found a garage in bradford who serviced my car for £20 yes £20. im not trying to promote this company but i was really happy there service is good and they supply a warranty even for a basic service. is there any other garage out there that is trust worthy good prices and give warranty. |

Now when you say service do you mean they give it a quick visual check or ; Check and top up all fluids, Remove all wheels and check brake pads/disks, Check bearings, suspension, tyres, steering, Check emissions, Lubricate all locks and hinges, grease necessary areas, Change oil/filter, Change air filter, Flush cooling system, Change cambelt ? Plus all the other stuff that should be done at service, or does this cost extra (the oil and filter alone will cost more than £20). For £20 you can come to me and I'll check your indicators are working and the oil level, in fact I'll do it for a tenner ! To be honest your'e not getting much of a service for £20, and I wouldn't trust any garage that says it does for that price. |

Was thinking that. By the time I buy a gallon of oil and a couple of filters, it's already twice what they're charging. And that's without labour and VAT. I would really worry what they're putting on and in my motor at that price........ |

Ah, you see you didn't say it was just the labour. How much was the overall cost ? Bearing in mind those items listed could be done in approx. 1/2 hour you're being charged £40 p/h labour (although it's probably a minimum of 1 hours charge so it may be £20p/h anyway)- how does that compare to other garages ? But yeah, £20 to have it done at a garage seems reasonable, depending on what you got charged for the parts ! I'd have done it myself, reckon all the parts would cost between £40-£50. And I wouldn't really call changing the oil and filters a 'service'. |
