It seems the ECU gives up using the knock-sensor info after about 90,000 miles and you get injector rattle and the codes vanish from the injectors, not harmful, no loss of performance of MPG, just bloody annoying

tipping a bottle of Forte fuel treatment in a tank of derv makes it quieter (i never use supermarket fuel)

has anyone had had injectors recoded?

Injector knock on the TDCI is made worse by supermarket fuel being ultra dry. I've never had them recoded though.

too true, i use branded fuel (136.9 now) and its even better with some STP additive

avoid supermarkets like the plague

had a genuine brim-brim (300 miles) mpg of 54.8, even filled at the same pump

I tend to use Shell with a little added 2 stroke semi synthetic to every fill up, that seems to cure injector rattle and gives it that little bit extra poke.

Ermm it's 250mill per tank of diesel mate, a £3.00 bottle of semi synthetic 2 stroke motor cycle oil will last you 4 fill ups. I noticed the difference halfway down the first tank.

ive got 125ml of semi-synth 2stroke oil in and it had already got some cetane-based diesel treatment in it, last fill (before the 2stroke oil) it did 300 miles extra urban at 51mpg, which i think is good for a Mondeo, its bigger than an Octavia or Focus, and I get more on a run though oddly 6th gear isnt the best at UK motorway limits cos its just a bit low on revs

ive done 150 miles "with 2stroke" and it does seem quieter but that 1st 900-1000 rpm is still sticky/knocking, by 1100 rpm its gone

It'll work it's way through in time.
