I had a problem with my clutch pedal not travelling, so my car refused to change gears. I took to mechanic who reckoned if not hydraulic problem it could be the thrust bearing or pressure plate. A chance that the fork may be at fault. So now it's been stripped down and the following found- bent fork all out of shape, pressure plate not recognised part (*fitted by skoda!!!), bearing and carrier scratched and grooved. All parts fitted and clutch slipping. So he now he's now having to fit a complete conversion kit inc. flywheel. *funny thing is the only work done (besides master cylinder) was conversion from DMF to solid by the main dealer. The bearing and carrier are stock parts held by Skoda (common fault?) Sorry for rambling post, seething. |

If it was fitted by skoda you will have there 2 year unlimited mileage warranty on it, the clutch will either be LUK or Sacs, had mine converted to the single system when I first got my octy only changed the clutch and release bearing last time |

Yes get a good mechanic, then get him on the blower to find a part. If you in my manor I would suggest a good one he would have it back on the road inside a day as your not to far away try here https://plus.google.com/108941963680173 ... 5717/about All he deals in is VW and Skoda |

I got a good mechanic, just he's phone shy. Upshot is the car back on road and working. He stripped it back down and put in a full conversion kit at a cost of £430 plus £150 labour. I got the call at 8 o'clock tonight. He'd just road tested it. So can't complain about his dedication to his craft.BTW skippy the Google link, Gateshead, not too far away, are you serious? 130 odd miles on a dodgy clutch assembly, I'll pass. But thanks for the thought, anyway. |

I agree, I had a C5 once and it was one of the best motors I've ever had for Taxing. When going over the road humps you couldn't feel them due to the hydraulic suspension, the punters loved it. The only new parts it had on while I had it was a starter motor, and alternatoror. |
