Hello thee Magnus from Sweden here. I bought an ex-London P-reg fairway back in May Love her/him to bits, especially with the STT system in place Tinkering as i go, but i guess it's time for SORN soon, winter here equals sh*tloads of road salt One of the many, many things on my wish is a taxi meter with those lovely red numerals glowing softly inside the dim cabin.., just for fun. Is there any way to find out what type/model was fitted last? Cygnus seems popular. Would i need more than the meter, ie a control box of some kind? The "brain box" controls both motion locks and meter, so mine should still be in place...right...? Any help would be most appreciated Thanks for a top forum!!! /Magnus |

It should still have everything in place i would have thought, cygnus are popular meters so it could well be that.Is the bracket for the meter still there on the bulkhead under the mirror controls ? |

Hi Blackpool! Yup! there is a bracket in place complete with an olde-looking computer connector. Can the connector type lead me in the right direction? (no pun intended) I understand that the taxi sign and the "for hire" sign are both controlled by the meter!?! I got the itch today and plugged in to a 12v lead going to the above mentioned connector. changed the two 20 odd W bulbs to LED. Eureka... The for hire sign will be a tougher nut to crack I noticed that there is a separate light for the blu square.. what is that used for?? Btw, i bought the cab from a cabbie in Blackpool who in turn picked it up from London All the BEST! |

Hi, On mine, the top light and the yellow light are both connected by orange wires. The speed input was a thin white wire. I have a Cignus/LTI300 meter |

Where in Sweden are you? There were 4 Ex London cabs in Stockholm back in the mid nineties, sadly all gone now. I see the good quality home grown drivers have been replaced by the usual slave labour from abroad with deregulation of the taxi trade. Sad. |

Down south. Skane, small village 30 mins from Helsingborg. There was a proposition in governmnet this year to do away with the need for "good local knowledge" for taxi drivers in stockholm, as "every smartphone today has got a GPS..... Thankfully the prop was thrown out But you still need your head screwed on as a punter. There is no maximum fee..... There is a sticker on the side of the cab (usually the window) There you will find the taxi fare guide with the price of a standardized typical journey (10km, 15 mins.) The "good guys" tend to charge around 250 SEK. How does 5000 SEK sound.. http://www.transport.se/Transportarbeta ... styrelsen/ 9909 SEK has been reported.. BTW I saw a Fairway Driver in Malmo a few days ago All the BEST! Magnus |
