My E7 is the older version with the now infamous sliding doors.

The doors all bar one, lock from the key fob, and the same manually from the inside. The nearside sliding passenger door being the problem does not, although it will lock manually using the key. Unfortunately it is proving to be a nuisance not being able to lock it whilst sat in the drivers seat - basically to keep the loopies out until you can do a quick once over i.e to let them in OR not.

Is the problem emanating from what is known as the "piano keys" or is it something else I should be looking at?

Are one of the Piano keys stuck in or the connection on the door pillow is gobbed up with dirt? I know these can be a bit of a nightmare, whip them off and spray them with silicone lubricant.

John i suppose most central locking is a similar set up, so its probally the solonoid in the door thats not locking. Its either that or a broken wire, try spraying with wd40 . Call them 'scum locks' here couldnt do without them !
