My fairways battery has died not much more than a year old.The previous one went for only a few months longer. Anyone got any recommendations to end up with a decent one?. |

If you know someone with a Costco account ,they sell Bosch batteries, bit on the pricey side but they guarantee it for as long as you have it! |

An Auto electrician told me that taxi batteries have a short lifespan because they discharge and recharge so often. Sat on a rank with lights on radio on etc. runs the battery down. Known in the trade as a deep recycle. When I owned Metrocabs I used to be changing batteries every year or so. The E7 type vehicles have battery protection which shuts everything down after 15 minutes or so. An irritation, but the battery does last longer. |

Varta is the one I finally settled on.In fact I bought two, one for the taxi and a spare one to use to start other cars with jump leads. |

Maybe you've an Issue with your Charging regulator rather than any given brand of battery, either under charging or surging and slowly frying the battery.? |

I think it was more a question of getting what I paid for.The batteries that died were cheaper (and I notice somewhat lighter) than the Varta that replaced them. The alternator works fine, charging rate etc all as should be. The original battery although incapable of starting the fairway when cold still manages to perform adequately all year round on another car.I think the 'cheapies' just can't hack it on a largish cold diesel for that long. |
