 Post subject: auto box help please

new to forum so hi to all have a p reg fairway driver 2.7 nissan engine auto was running driving great untill changed the oil and filter filter was a t*** to get of took an hour and did a small weld took battery of first now it wont change gear properly will get first second by letting foot of throttle then pressing again but really have to floor it then let foot of to get third and its like the overdrive has stopped working as well tried pressing overdrive button lights up but does nothing any help please guys

Have you changed fluid in gearbox ? I don't really see how changing oil and filter would do anything to your gearbox ? First step for me would be to change gearbox oil/transmission fluid

i agree changing oil filter should make no diff at all just changed fluid still doing it will go from first to second ok but have to floor throttle then let foot of to get third and seems the overdrive aint working wish id never touched it was working perfect

No real expert but could be sticking valve or the like, would get a gearbox service if i was you. Some gearbox dont operate properly till warmed up, run sluggish when cold. Good luck

I had a Metrocab Auto, which had a similar problem.

I had knocked off an air line which ran from the back of the alternator to the gearbox, it needs a small vacuum to change gear. Pushed the air line back into place and all was well. Check to see if there is a small rubber pipe hanging loose, you should see a nipple in the oil pump behind the alternator that it just pushes onto.

can i just say jimbo ur a star had cracked the metal pipe wen trying to get oil filter of just rejoined it gearbox back working if u could see the smile on my face many thanks to all who replied paul

That smile is because it's cost you nothing to sort when you were wondering how much a new gearbox might be?
