Hi,

Can anyone help, my TW200 2009 has got the Air Bag warning light coming on. Have tried to reset it but still it glows with a message in the display. I'm being advised it needs the whole unit replacing at quite a high cost.

Is there a quick and cheap fix for this fault that someone may have found.

Thanks.

I suspect it's a loose wire, very much doubt it needs a complete replacement.

Check your local area for an electrical mechanic, or maybe ask the lads on the Fiat Forum. (oh you have) #-o

Could be the connection under your seat (the airbag works on the same system as the seatbelt pre-tensioner) do you adjust the seat a lot (day/night driver). Try wiggling the wires or connections under there. A friend of mine had a Picasso on private hire and passengers were forever adjusting the seat and triggering a warning light.

No its not,  my one was on when mine was tested, and it was the wire under the seat due to it being moved forward and back

Check under the seat and disconnect the wires at the connector with the keys out of the ignition, join them back up and get some insulating tape and wrap it around the connector, get someone with a diagnostic comp and turn it off

New MOT rules come into force on 01/03/2013 which will mean an instant fail for any warning light (either red or orange) that is illuminated. There are also quite a few other points being introduced, some of them being ; if you have a tow bar fitted, they will check the 13 pin socket is working as it should, steering lock must work, speedometer dial must be illuminated, drivers seat adjustment must also work.

last November i asked if my EML light being on was a problem, the MOT station said an airbag light was but not an EML

depends who you speak to

i can recouple the EGR in about 2 minutes and after 10 miles the light goes out

Thanks all for your advice, I have tried them all but the light still stays on, resetting the light from the fault code does not work so I have tracked down a company that sorts air bag warning lights and other warning lights out, will give them a try and let you know how I get on.

When you plug in the comp does it tell you witch airbag is supposed to be at fault, I had the airbag light come on several times each time it told me what one normally the passenger seat or mine if it was moved for any reason sorted like I said in my last post

Thanks, but my cab only has a drivers seat, the passenger seat is removed for luggage compartment.... no air bag or seat belt on passenger side, so the fault must be drivers side or within the steering wheel, I think they call it the clock mechanism. Not only does the air bag light come on a message flashes up in the cabs computer display saying, air bag/seat belt faulty.

Under the seat you'll find a little white connection, un plug for 60 seconds then plug it back in again. That should make it go out.
