Hi all. I have a red LED on the dash that I think is to do with the Van Aaken system that comes on after starting for a minute or so and then goes off. Does anyone know what this LED is for? I assume it is to do with the emission system but I was wondering what exactly it means. Thanks for your help |

Thanks for your reply. Yeah, the glow plug lamp works; everything works as it should but it was more curiosity than anything else that made me ask. |

Pretty sure it will be some sort of relay for the emissions kit, does it just come on when you start it ? |

As far as I'm aware, yes. I guess it could be a warning light and that it tests itself on startup. |

There are some work shop manuals on ebay (CD or memory stick) they might help. |

I had that system fitted to my old TX1 in 2006. As I remember it, the red light did come on when you started it up, but a permanent light would mean the system was getting sooted up. I was told by the installer it needed a run on a motorway every so often so as to burn away any deposits that in town driving builds up. It was Ivan Kovlers A1 taxis in North London that fitted the system, althouh van Arken went bust a few years ago. My R reg is still plated (until later this year) so I guess its still working with the Van Arken fitted. You could of course remove the system and just fit a standard exhaust as its not being used as a licensed Taxi in London. |
