| Post subject: | Fairway Broken Door key - HELP! |
Hi All, My one and only door key to my 96 Fairway Driver has snapped in my pocket. I have tried to get a replacement cut from the two bits but it wont fit despite fettling. I called a locksmith who said that they aren't transit keys and i need the code to cut them properly. He suggested the manufacturer! Does anybody have any advice on how to resolve this? I have no idea who to contact to get a code (LTI doesn't seem to have any parts service etc). Any help much appreciated, as I'm on a tight schedule as she goes to France next weekend! |

Cheers fella - just bought it - how easy are they to fit? On another point - more problems have arisen that I'm going to detail in another post for advice. |

Changing a front door handle is not that easy, I did it once, you've to unscrew the lock, then the glass channel comes into the way, that you have to twist a bit to remove the lock... I think it's a lot easier to have a new key cut, provided you get a good locksmith, you'll need a Ford Chubb key blank : http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Taxi-Ford-Chu ... 616wt_1161 |

Cowardly I got someone else to do it! So much cheaper to replace the whole thing rather than try to get ancient broken and worn keys re-cut. |
