Hi, every time i put the fan/heater on i seem to get a funny smell, it's been in the garage and there are no oil leaks, breather pipe is on auto box and at right level, no leaks on radiators or pipes, only thing what i have done is change make with the ATF fluid. Has any 1 got any ideas what it could be please.

If it's a slight "curry" smell it could a small leak in your heater matrix. I had the same problem once on a vehicle, it was a very small leak that hardly registered on the radiator. Check around the carpet near to your transmission tunnel under the dash for signs of dampness. You may also be getting a slight haze on your windscreen.
Hope this helps.

Just to back up X-rays theory.

I just replaced my dads rear heater matrix, after the cab was losing water, strong curry smell and a damp carpet where the tell tale signs.

I don't think it will be my socks , I changed them at Christmas, I've checked all the carpets and they don't seem wet, the water level hasn't gone down either, when i do put the heater on i the smell is more like a chemical smell more than a curry, I seem to get a nasty taste in my mouth do you still think it could be the heater matrix? Thanks

I would check that the ATF has got onto the exhaust system or you may have an injector leaking, that gave a nasty smell/taste in the mouth when my TX1 injectors were loose!

Maybe someone in the cars history has spilt something rancid like milk that permeates carpets and foam rubber and has an aromatic Half-life of around 10,000 years.
