The Fairway/TX1 alternator comes together with the vacuum pump sitting at its back. It's the rotation of the alternator that creates the vacuum in the pump. This pump is essential in feeding vacuum to the servo brake.
Depending on your Fairway model, you'll find 4 or 5 hoses connected to the vacuum pump:
- 2 hoses for engine oil
- 2 or 3 hoses for vacuum: big size one to the servo, medium size one to the autobox (pre-1997 models only), small size one to the brake vacuum sensor.

New alternator comes with new vacuum pump attached, can I just disconnect and reconnect like for like?
