Hi All,

I've recently purchased a Fairway Driver '94, and having re-done some of the dodgy wiring, I came across a switch which had been removed from the dashboard. On pressing the switch nothing happened, however (presuming the switch was faulty) I wired 12v up to one side of it. Lo and behold, I could hear a motor above my head. Turns out I have an electric sunroof, or at least a motor for it.

Although I can hear a motor turning, the sunroof remains shut. Is there any common problem that would have warranted the previous driver to disconnect some mechanical link from the motor to the sunroof? Or does anyone else have any immediate ideas as to why the motor may turn, but the sunroof stays closed?

Inevitably I'll end up taking it to bits, but just wanted to see if anyone had come across the same problem, before I do...

they (often) were driven by a worm gear and a cable, the teeth wear and the motor can turn but theres no drive to the sunroof

are you expecting sun?...

The motor is all fine, but it turns out one of the worms is completely stuck - having removed the glass from the two runner-pieces and removed the motor cog, I can move one worm back and forth, but the other (even having used a considerable amount of WD40 and force), it will not budge.

Is there any reason or way one of these worms could get so stuck? Apart from the obvious 'something stuck in the runner'...
