I believe my fairway has a L4N71b tranny in it and I was wondering if anyone knows if it was possible to replace it with a different automatic transmission? I'm looking for more modern autos that could be a possible switch. Unfortunately, where I live there is not much of selection of older cars pre-2000.

Just as info regarding my problem, my current trans has a problem late shifting from 2nd to 3rd. Fluid changed, correct level, the trans modulator is almost fully screwed counter clock wise. Only 2 other things that could possibly be wrong, the governor or the valve body. Both seem like a big hurdle to overcome than dropping the old one and replacing with another one.

Many thanks,

There is an online manual for these boxes somewhere but I can't remember the URL. Try typing the model number in google and I'm sure you'll find it a page or two in.
