One of my colleagues has heard that you can do away with the kingpins by fitting parts from a Fairway / TX

Anybody know what it involves and parts needed

TIA

I would imagine the easy way is to replace the whole front axle if you can get hold of one. It'll also do away with those terrible lever arm shocks and change you to telescopics.

Anything is possible,I've just looked at an old american pick up truck that has the whole of a fairway taxi front end fitted to it and a few years back saw a Mk1 transit that had the IFS of a much later one under it.
You'd really need to compare the two side by side to get an idea of whats involved in changing them.
