Anyone had problems with emissions... Got a 58reg tw200 ... Reg Oct 08 new rules come in about 2 years ago everything reg after July 08 has to pass 1.5 on emissions.. Struggled every time to pass now can only get 1.7 and cab off road .. It doesn't have dpf .. Wasn't required when new .. Fitted new cat new mass flow sensor .. Every flush known to man and had a terraclean done on it ... Waiting to see if ECU can be remapped ... Any one had similar problems...

It also applies to skoda 1.9tdi, my 59 plate past with 1.25 just in, but what happens if your vehicle cannot get to or below the pass mark, and there is nothing else to adjust, a drop from 3.0 to 1.5 is harsh for those who bought newer vehicles still with the older technology, could the trade unions do anything about this, as there could be many thousands of vehicle owners left with a newish vehicle that they can no longer drive and possibly still have outstanding finance on.

I've ended you having the ECU remapped to a economy setting .... That brought it down enough to pass ... But its cost over £800 in changing things to get from 1.7 to below 1.5 ...

a diesel MUST be tested when hot
give em a damn good thrashing before the test
change oil and filters before test but after running injector cleaner (Forte) through them
make sure you only use the proper oil

i used to turn the pump down on my Montego td perkins prima, cant do that now

my car passed with a reading of 0.17

I was curious about my emissions after reading this ( my vehicle, not me !) so whilst I was in the garage earlier, I asked my mechanic to test it. Mine is a 2009 E7 with over 200,000 on the clock. The result, 0.47. I don't know what caused yours to be so high. I don't do a lot of motorway work, but I put a bottle of Forte injector cleaner in at every service. My mechanic also puts half a bottle in the fuel filter housing along with the new filter.

first questions are...

has it had new filters and clean oil of late?

(was the correct oil used)?

was the engine upto heat when tested?

did it get a good thrashing for a few miles before the test?

I think the 2009 expert had a dpf fitted but only late 2009 on the scudo and dispatch

The 90 bhp and 120 bhp scudo wasn't fitted dpf till end of 2009 the 140 bhp was fitted a dpf from late 2007 ... The EU law for manufacturing companies came in force 2010 but UK mot regs still went through .... So problem was not engine it was not set up to pass 1.5 only under 3.0 ... So now I've had ECU remapped for better economy and it passed ... Plus side I'm saving about £20 a week on fuel
