Post subject:  octavia
A mate of mine has a 10 reg Octavia. It is coming up with an occasional injector fault. This puts the car in limp home mode but if you clear the code the fault doesn't return for a few days. He has had the codes read and it has been suggested that either he needs to replace all 4 injectors or the diesel pump.Anyone had this problem. The car has done 60,000 miles.

I had a Similar issue with my 2.0 Superb and 1.9 octavia, all it was was a DPF sensor that was attached to the Bulk head, the car coughed and spluttered then flashed up with warning lights and fuel problem warnings etc...I thought it was cheap supermarket fuel with Moisture, but no..this little fellow was the cause and a relatively cheap and easy fix.

Ah, thanks for that. Now you mention it we had a similar problem on one of our Meganes and it was this same part.

Find a nice quiet road and give it a blast in second gear for a few miles every so often this should clear it for a while if not get the DPF sensor replaced, after doing that always give it a good blast to keep it from doing it, if he's in the RAC or AA they will change it for him they normally carry spares just make sure he's in another town

Apparently the first time it happened he called out either the AA or RAC and they suggested that it would be a sensor. However he has taken it to a garage and they have advised the replacement of the injectors and fuel pump. I think they noticed how green he seems and decided they could take his pants down and give him a good servicing. :mrgreen:

why not do a bleed test on the injectors, if you got one faulty then it should show up... why change 4?
could be a low or hight pressure sensor or even a cheap fuel filter (fram) crank sensor..

dont just clear codes, do a health check and check all reading on a live check

some people who have dignostic think they can use them even dealers... ive beaten our local mercedes dealer that many times that some times they ask me.

some diagnostic machines can do dpf regeneration .... ask your dealer / my snap on solus pro and verdect can do it

I have only heard of the injector wiring looms being faulty never an injector on the Octavia, FFS get him to a main dealer for a proper diagnostic check before needlessly replacing things that don't need replaced

Tell him to go on here and register, he will then find someone with a VAG computer near him, that will tell him exactly what's wrong without paying a dealers extortionate prices

Tell him to stop putting nasty supermarket fuel in and he won't get this problem.

Just do a leak off test, it's easier.
