I know everyone calls these "automatics" but they arent "old school" slushboxes are they, more a manual box shifted by motors? my question is....


Does a DSG equipped car have a dual mass flywheel or a torque converter?

They're still good for over 200,000+ miles as long as you drop the oil every 30,000 miles and replace it with like for like oil.

I took the Sales Manager of our local Skoda dealership home last night, we got talking about Skoda's, Rainworth Skoda supply the Taxi Centre in Glasgow with their Skoda's. He said if you know a Taxi Driver who wants a Skoda tell them to get in touch with the Sales manager at Rainworth Skoda and he'll beat any quote offered by the Taxi Centre and other Taxi specialists.

They also do cracking lease options for Taxi Drivers with no deposits needed.

They've just taken an order for 75 Skoda's from DG Cars in Nottingham, they've also got an order for 60 Skoda's from Mercury cars in Sheffield.

He went to Sutton on Sea last weekend in a Superb Auto with a DSG box, he said it got there on a gallon of fuel, a total of 70 miles.

It's made by VW so there's no need to worry. There's never been any issue with the new DMF's.

Not on a VW Skoda mate. They'll be a better make. Don't forget they use the same DMF that's on the Audi.

LUK are massive in OE supplies

Some Audi's were fitted with a Sachs DMF, they are of a different design (planetary gears, not springs) but ive heard some garages have charged for warranty work when theyve found them in the engine as they are so unheard of!

I'd have the 6 speed Auto without hesitation. The guys on Top Gear and 5th gear rave about them, as do the motoring magazines.

No problems yet on my Octavia yet with DSG, that's done 38,000 in a year. It I quite possible to go 70 miles on gallon of diesel if you use the clicktronic shift to over-ride the auto; change into 6th at 30, 7th at 35, easy on the gas, and 84 mpg is achievable.

Pleased it's going fine.

Still love my Mondeo though, and can't wait till the new model next year.
