Hi any thoughts, was driving my taxi night when it start losing power. I was on a motorway. I pulled onto the hard shoulder, and it restarted but kept losng power. I had to have it towed back. Tried it today and it seems okay. Any ideas. A friend of mine suggested it might have beena dirty fuel filter caused by contaminated fuel. He said somtimes the air filters can eventual clear themselves,

Make/model/fuel type might give us a better idea of what could be wrong. Could be as simple as an air leak in a split hose, a blocked fuel filter or a sensor. But it could also be a sign of injectors failing as well as the fuel pump, ECU,,,,,,,,,, When you say it loses power do you mean the engine cuts out completely or it runs but has no oomph, did it do it all of a sudden or was there any coughing, spluttering or strange noises coming from the engine. Did any warning lights come on ? Has it run fine since? |

tx1. it just lost power. it started again and just seemed to lose power. it runs okay now. Someone said it could be contaminated fuel, which blocked the fuel filter, hence the loss of power. if it is running olay now, the fuel filter may have cleared the blockage. |

Tx1 so it's a Nissan 2.7 diesel,no diagnostic.Im guessing you've put a new fuel filter on it(I'd of shoved a diesel/injector cleaner in it aswell) does the primer on top of filter prime up ok ? |
