Post subject:  had to get new engine

Nice start to the new year, new engine required, due to the car using 3 litres of oil, between services, decided that a new head was required, mechanic took old one off, we thought it could have been valve stem oil seals, only to find 2 of the bores were deeply scored, and where causing the oil to pressurise to be burnt off, so ordered a recon engine for £950 comes with a 2 year unlimited mileage, only trouble is it takes 5 working days to arrive

Is it feasible/cost effective to go and pick it up?

I had an 1.9 td Octavia for about 115,000 Miles, It enjoyed a decent drink of Oil on a regular basis but It never Smoked....never did it any harm though, went like shit off a shovel that car.

PS..just did a Vosa check on that old 55 plated Octavia and it's still taxed until June 2015...God knows what the milage must be on it by now.

That last 58 plate Skoda superb that I traded in 16 Months ago is nowhere to be seen either...shame because it would have been a great car for someone, I wonder if the Auction company sits on these things.

Behave..... I am thinking that rather than be off of the road for 5 days, then a mate/hire vehicle could be a better option.
