Post subject:  Chipped windscreen

Well today noticed a chip on my windscreen. I thought I had cover for this on my insurance but seems like I don't.

It isn't a big chip less than 3 mm across and purely on the surface of the glass. Im wanting to know has anyone tried the diy solution that is supposed to fix them and if so do they work? Or is it just best to get autoglass or suchlike to sort it

I have used the DIY systems in the past and provided that the weather is sunny, they are ok. However I would sugest that you look up a local windscreen company, definatly not one of the big boys, and they will usually fix it for around £25.00. Our windscreen cover has an excess of £350 and because it is a fleet policy, it goes on your claims history, even for a repair. If we need a new windscreen we also go direct to the local guys and it usually costs between £100 and £150 for a replacement depending on which vehicle.
