My Superb is affected but im not rushing to the recall till i hear what it does, some cars only need a software, others need DPF/injectors and it sounds like caution may be the best advice.... |

It might not be, check on the VW website it'll tell you if it's effected. They were talking about this on watchdog the other night. You have to check the website that is relevant to your car. if it is a Volkswagon, you check the Volkeswagon site. If it is a Skoda, you check the Skoda site. Etc. |

I'd be worried about loss of BHP/MPG as a result of the recall |

Is it compulsory to have the work done ? VW can't make you have anything done to your own vehicle, but will it be a MOT fail if you can't prove the softwares been updated. As far as I'm aware the Gov havn't made it a legal requirement to have your vehicle updated (other than the requirements of the MOT). If I owned an affected vehicle, as it's not a safety issue, I wouldn't bother TBH. |

Having the change done should not affect the vehicle in the slightest should it? The software was only in there to fool the test. It did nothing when the vehicle was being driven normally. That was the issue. |

No'ones quite sure yet, depends on what the remap will do.It might affect the performance (max BHP) and fuel economy, tax banding is based on emissions at a certain rpm so some vehicles might end up in a higher bracket and pay more tax. Plus the uncertainty at the moment means resale and trade in values are lower as dealers don't want to be stuck with a car they can't sell and fewer people are buying until they know whats happening. |

They have, im surprised theyve missed the chance to take an extra £200/yr of a million cars, thats several MP's expenses! |

What I couldnt work out was why there were 2 1.6tdi offerings in Superbs, the Greenline and mine (£20/yr tax and mine at £30/yr) but there was also ONE 2.0ltr with £20/year road tax, the "Black" edition (available any colour) yet all other 2.0ltr diesel superbs were £200+ a year....now it all becomes clear |
