Hello all

A new problem has started in my 2002 tx2

Everytime i accelerate from a complete stop there is a squeak sound from the engine like a worn out belt and as i pick up speed the sound goes away. I know it sounds strange but the warmer the engine the louder the noise

Fit new fan belt

check the belt is running probably around the runners or could be the bearings on the belt tensioner. What sort of squeak is it?

When you say what sort of squeak do you mean the pitch

Yeah what does it sound like? .. best thing you can do is take the belt off and run the engine for a little bit not too long minute or so. See if it stops then you know if it's a belt a pump or the runners

Have you changed the belt recently? Is it sitting proper on the pulleys? I had a simular problem a few months ago after changing the belt to a new one, the motor factors had given me the wrong size it sounded a bit like a pully going. Turning the steering done it too. Fitted a smaller one and issue solved.

I think its ford i dont know its the stock one bought the cab brand new in 2002. I dont know why everybody hates the tx2 like i say 200k miles on the timing chain you just have to drive them really carefully and you get good results such as the 29 m.p.g i get and its got 500k miles on it and dosnt use a drop of oil between services

Thats still good going on a tx2 timing tensioner even the ford transit with this engine get about 100k on a timing tensioner if there lucky. Ive just changed my timing chain tensioner and guide its got 250k on the clock so pretty low miles for a cab, its been changed before also but i didn't have the cab then.

My TX2 has also started making a high pitch noise. Only really in the first 5 to 10 mins of driving. I'm assuming it's the fan belt - is it something I can do myself without specialist tools? btw, I only have 28k miles on mine but it sat unused for 4 years until I got it.
