Ali T, I think you have a point there, my mate work's as a salesman for vauxhall, and he reckon's they don't make any money out of new cars, they make thier money out of used cars and seviceing.
Mind you, it must be costing LTI a bloody fortune in warranty claims!

spoke to a bloke who used to work for LTI....he tells me that indeed, as has already been stated in this thread, it's a transit engine...now the problem with these engines now he says is that they don't come from Ford, but a company called Powertrain, who make the engines for Ford...the reason for this, is that Ford wanted nowt to do with LTI...the other reason for a lot of the probs with this engine, ie timing chain, flywheel etc, in his words are because the engine was originally designed to run tranversely in the transit, ie FWD, but the know it alls at LTI decided to spin it round longitudally for RWD, and it has caused a lot of engine balancing probs via vibration, causing premature wearing of timing chain/tensioner and flywheel etc

the bloke said this also, cant remember what he said exactly why it's not a problem with the long wheel base tranny, but it is with ours, the othe thing is the new TX4, won't have this engine, but a Ford/Fiat engine, wonder what they're gonna do to balls this engine up, also have heard a rumour that the TX's turning circle is gonna be compromised due to having to fit ABS as standard, what ya reckon on that one??? Peugeot and Fiat up here in Leeds must be rubbing their hands already
