Post subject:  MERCEDES ANTI CORROSION WARRANTY

Hi folks, I was taxing a C Class a while back and since discovered rust at the top of the roof near the window seal.. I took the car to merc and they had a look at it and said they will send off the claim to merc.. The guy asked me if the car was a taxi i said no.. its been de plated and radio is taken out.. however it does have a ariel on the roof

Anyone with a simliar problem ?
Will merc fix it under the warranty ?

Cheers del

Was a hole drilled for the Ariel? They could argue that there’s water coming in through there and dismiss the claim.

yeah theres a hole in the roof but the rust was there before that was done.. and its no where near where the rust is

could they dismiss the claim if they knew it was a PHC ?

Fraid all Mercs have the rust problem, think after 03 year they started to get it right

rust to top of doors due to the door seals holding water, rust to front wings just above where it fits to the front bumper, rust wheel arches, rust to boot edges and around boot opener, rust behind number plate are the common

Providing you service history is up to date it will all get done free, 30 years warranty bodywork with service history, no history you may have to pay a %
they will photo the rust part and take a paint thickness reading, they will only do the rust you tell them, its up to you to search and find the rust spots then report

I don't know why they asked you is it a taxi, cos that makes no difference, mercedes even make/produce a taxi pack vehicle for the continent

If you have any trouble with the dealership with your rust claim, known as the stealerships, you can contact Mercedes in Stuttgart customer service, the dealer can give you the telephone number and they do speak perfect english

The Merc dealerships get fined by Mercedes if they aren't doing or going about the job correctly, Mercedes dealers are usually fair with all claims on their products, lets face it they don't want others to see a rust bucket Merc floating about, gives them bad image

This is a useful site to find all answers to your rust problems with Mercedes.

I don't think they have too, but many do out of good customer service.

More than likely they know it's a cab, and they are getting their own back in a little way.

It shouldnt matter if its a PHC or not.. Last time i had some work done at the maindealer they told me they would supply a replacement courtesy car but i had to insure it myself.
