The E7 is not a bad vehicle, But! the door handles are a Bl***y nightmare.

Passengers consistently cannot get into the car, if you disassemble the internal mechanism of the handle you will see why. It is the cheapest tackiest internal mech you will ever come across, a small piece of plastic keeps on popping out of the holder which is held in by a spring thinner than a ladies hair clip.

I have had to do this about 17 times - has anyone got any idea how I can get this to hold in place.

Just make one from thin fence wire, push it through the hole and make a loop just like threading a needle and then twist the end over, then do the same on the other end B@Q for stronger spring

From memory on here I'm sure Cab Direct's boss supplied a stronger link to someone who had a rare up.

Might be worth e-mailing them.

Just about every Shed 7 owner I know has problems with the sliding door mechanism, they have to get out to open the door for most of their jobs. I have problem customers who try to slide my metrocab doors!

I did e-mail cabs direct pointing out the problem TBH they have not been to bad about it, but I am as ever having to do all the chasing.

I am going to contact peugeot to see what they have got to say.

we seem to be dealing with the walking dead sometimes - I am not exactly the brightest spark around - but they do at times leave me feeling rather superior

Sliding doors on van's have been a nightmare since time began, the one's that work really well are the ones with the self-closing mechanism inside, but when they go wrong you really do need to get your cheque book out, but the good side is that it saves you having to join a health club to keep fit.

You are right, I did suggest to Cab Dir that perhaps they should on the nearside consider an electrical door, or fitting some sort of door jam to soften the opening. The main trouble on opening, is that the passengers try to pass the door 20 metres down the road. I shall wait with baited breath to see what they intend doing.

But! whatever, they are going to have to do something.

this problem is really annoying butt can be fixed quite simply.

all you need to do is take off the panel on the insdie of the door that holds the mechanism and then locate the long metal rod and bend it slightly which reducees the amount the outer handle has to be pulled before the door will relase and hey presto problem fixed and the punters will be able to open the door yay

I will first of all e-mail peugeot to see what they have got to say before I go altering the rods. I think with hindsight it is something that they should be big enough to sort out. Thanks for your help.

peugeot will just tell you you either need to replace the door handle the door rods or both but you will only suffer the same problems again i adjusted (bent) the rods in the back of mine 12 months ago and never had any probs since as before i was replacing door handles like they were outa fashion

hi my cab is a fiat same cab as e7 dont suffer the e7 probblem but like the rod bend idea dendo

Do any of you guys have a problem in wet weather with the doors failing to open form the outside. It is not as daft as it sounds - it crossed my mind that it might be to do with the door sensors - or not!
