 Post subject: TX1 Brakes

Here's one for you MrT or any other budding mechanics out there.

Pedal getting near to the floor.

Had the system bled out a few times, helps but the pedal soon heads towards the bulkhead within a few days.

Replaced the master cylinder, brake valve, and the servo.

No leaks apparant, all the bleed nipples are fine.

:? Help?

I have never had to replace a servo on a T X 1 it is something that never goes , if you have no leaks on your front calipers... and you are 100 per cent certain..... then the fault must be your rear brakes..... put a brake clamp on the flexible break hose going to your rear axle and see if your brakes feel OK......... usually the problem is back brake cylinders and possibly rear shoes and drums...
ps. the problem you had with overheating is more than likely to be your cylinder head's waterways are blocked( just the head)

The rear cylinders have been done as well, new shoes and pads all round.

I know theres a compressor that serves the Servo at the back of the alternator, i'm wondering if that could be involved or would that make the brakes hard to opereate with a lack of vaccum?

Bloody thing.

The temp's ok now since I took the thermostat out. Not perfect, but not running hot.

I forsee a new taxi this year. I might even take a gamble on an 05 TX2. :shock:

GBC if the pedal is rock hard to push it could be the compressor, the vauxhall Carlton had the same set up and mine went twice in 5 years

Just run some rad flush through the system that should clear your water ways then give it a good flush through the top and bottom hose
What about the metro TTT nice Toyota engine
