I find it rather bizarre, and somewhat disturbing, that people are willing to put the publics safety at risk just to make money. This self drive system seems somewhat floored, if and even more so, when an operator goes before the man to defend himself in a court.

Why run the risk of such dealings. I would support a man if there limousines (over 8 people) where COIF'd AND and they were running it to the letter of the law.

I'm sure, one of these days, someone will fall foul and through this self drive loop hole, and land with a considerable bump, thus putting the whole self drive system in to a bad light.

Surely, if you can COIF one, then they should ALL be COIF'd. And if this is far to an expensive option, then why buy such a vehicle in the first place?

A legitimate limousine company would have its investments / assets well covered if such eventualities should accor.

There have been some cases through the courts recently and judgements have gone both ways. The operators that are running the self drive properly have been aquitted and the ones that are not running it correctly have been found guilty. Which in my opinion is only right.
Until recently I believe that only the Ford Excursion that was stretched by only one converter could obtain a COIF. This model is no longer in production. :? Towards the end of last year a COIF was obtained on a Hummer but it had to go through a hell of a lot of changes, including raising the roof by about 6". These are currently on sale for around £110,000 plus VAT.
Personally if I were to be thinking of buying one of these vehicles, I would only have one with a COIF.

Is that after defending it all for so long that you would not go this self drive method.
That speaks volumes...

Don't be a prat. The self drive system is fine for those that want to use it, and I will support them all the way but my preference would be COIF

I'm more sure than I have ever been that there is no way the gov will bring in a type of license especially for limos.

It's about time the limo folks worked that out for themselves.

"I hate hummers" has now been passed a proposal form from DCL offering self drive insurance. Confusing isn't it.

DCL are as popular as Tesco, by all accounts.
One minute they offer cheap insurance...corner the market (almost) then increase there prices, and not by a small amount either.
I would love to read the small print of a DCL self drive insurance policy!!

Am i correct in saying, there is a case thats going to set president in Wales, over the self drive scam? For some reason, we received an email of the goings on in that part of the world. I also understand there was a desperate rally to muster limousine operators to a meeting in Swindon, only to find out it was a cap in hand meeting to pay a Legal bob, for ANOTHER short term fix.

I would have NO pity on operators of limousines if they have been suckered into this latest scam / fund raiser. What do you think will come of it all? other than people walking off with your money?

What you ACTUALLY need to do is read the forth coming rules / regs / laws. Its all out there for the viewer to cast the eye over.
Gov bod's will tell you, "there are ways to operate already in place, you have your choice"

And lets not forget to congratulate the first person to COIF an over 8 seat limousine. WELL DONE YOU.

NOW COIF THEM ALL, i hear them saying in the corridor's
