I think the accepted wisdom for at least ten years now is that high milegage users are better with diesel, low mileage with petrol.

Of course, the balance will change over time, and the increasing gap between diesel and petrol prices are obviously a factor, but I still reckon that for taxi drivers diesel is still the cheaper long-term option.

Our local BP garages have put the price up 3 times in between deliveries I think there is a bit of profiteering going on

125.9 at BP 121.9 at Morrisons/Jet/Total its just a shame that Morrisons is right over the other end of town and the other 2 even further

One of my customers said today that her weekly shop has gone up £10 in a week (she buys the same every week) and even the price of a cup of tea and a sausage bap has gone up 10p this week

£10 is par for the course I'm afraid.

We are all doomed.

I still go back to the point I raised an another thread.

In the good old US of A petrol is about 40p a litre, and diesel about 50p a litre.

So anything above that goes to Gordon.

Well I suppose it's an even bigger shock to the system to them as to us, since if their price mainly reflects crude prices (ours mainly reflects fuel duty levels) then their fuel must have gone up by a bigger proportion than ours?

It's not so long since theirs was around $1 a gallon (about 12p a litre) so theirs has gone up 400%.

Still it's less than half what we pay
