what constitues "unfit" or is it a moving goalpost thing, with no fixed definition?

obviously a kiddy fiddler, drug dealer or rapist/murderer would be a doubtful, what about others?

just wondered.....

In England and Wales we have 344 (including London) different licensing authorities, and I would hazard a guess we have 344 differing definitions of 'fit and proper'. :?

Fraud is included as unfit down here, including benefit fraud I believe.

Having said that it's pretty much irrelevant in the modern "PC" world.

Anything over 5 years is classed as spent.

This "5 years is spent" ruling is interesting (espesh to me) as its not included in my LA's list of whotnots but IS in the LA's nextdoor to me guide, having said that, if my LA says theyve lost my CRB after waiting 3 months for it im gonna ruin my chances of a badge by doing something i could get locked up for.....

What about unable to speak English or show 100% proof of your past ?

That would wipe out a few. 8)

Well I haven't met a taxi/PH saint.

As for the bankrupt, well I suppose it depends on the nature of the bankruptcy. If it was a mass fraud involving loads of inoccents folks then a council could deem that as a sort of theft.

If it was a minor tax issue, then I think the council is/was acting harshly.

I would get your guy to ask the council when he will be deemed fit to re-apply.

That said do you talk to anyone other than iffy folks? :?

I try not to, ive found they are far more honest than men in suits

bankruptcy is personal failing of solvency, hardly fraud, if it was, the Official Receivers office would bring charges

lets not forget many famous people have been bankrupt, simon cowell for one, jeffrey archer 3 times i think...

its company liquidations that are the real fraudsters, phoenix traders, dodgy directors walking away with the cash....

I didn't say his bankruptcy was fraud was just saying that fraud was included in the unfit list down here.

My reply was basically adding to your initial post.

D@mn, half the trade down here has probably been bankrupt at some time.
