Does anyone know anything about these monkeys & how they operate, because the rumour is they may be climbing over our way soon?

If my memory serves me right....and from a sneeky peek at the website....Gatwick Airport was the first and then the world.

Are they serious competition for large local cab companies?

They are if there into airports!

I seem to recall my best (and GBC's) best buddy TF from the GMB mentioning something about working practices....perhaps you should contact BB or the GMBPDB direct....they will give you the craic.

Started as a family 'minicab' firm in London, got big, then took over Gatwick and has run it very well for over 10 years now.

Tried Manchester but left after loads of complaints from the black cab trade. Was replaced by the illegal buses there, so not much of a victory for the black cab trade.

Run a number of airports dotted around the country now, and the owner is now a tax exile in Monaco. :-s

Started operating at Southampton Airport in recent years from a desk inside the terminal.

I think it hurt the local boys but they tend to be a bit more expensive even than us hacks; So people will not use them regularly once they make the price comparison.

A colleague of mine has forwarded me the following, he hopes it is of use and wishes all of you salutations;

Ok mush Checker Cars at Stansted we have 75% of the drivers in membership, they are a good company in our estimation in that they run good legal services wherever they operate, and regard the drivers as their most important customers! Something many other companies would be wise to recognise!Earnings are good i believe! We have a recognition agreement with them and an open invite to organise at all their Airport operations, as of yet we havnt reached East Midlands, Bristol,or Gatwick.

regards

That's interesting, since when has East Midlands Airport been in Leicester? I have to take a look at the plates next time I am there. :wink:
