My spies on Radio Taxis tell me they didn't receive a service on Friday afternoon due to 'a BT fault'.

Now in the past when Radio Taxis was owned by its' drivers this was something you just put up with,but now it is privately owned with an American businessman owning some 30% and the board owning a bulk too.Some drivers still own the shares they were given at demutualisation.

So to the non shareholding drivers they have paid for a service they haven't received.
Is Radio Taxis 'in breach of contact' for not supplying a service the drivers have paid for via their subs?
This is also a problem at ConCab.
Dialacab is still mutual so there is no point in the drivers claiming from themselves.

What happens outside London when the privately owned radio circuits breakdown?
Are the subscribers given a refund etc?

Finally I am also informed that during the time the dispatch system was down,the work went to one of Radio Taxis' subsidiaries,Collage Cars.
No doubt Driver/shareholders will be relieved to know that the work was covered...

On Dial A Cab each driver is a shareholder therefore each driver has a vote and can change the rules of the company.

This is no longer the case at Radio Taxis, it is privately owned just like Sky TV.
If I don't received the service I've paid for via my subs,I want a refund.
The same should also apply to ConCab drivers.

Some have back up systems i.e. pen and paper.

And if they lose their radio signal then it's a case of ringing the office and get work that way.

If no work is taken due to the problems then as long as it's only for a few hours it's a case of lumping it.

Since Radio Taxis introduced 'Pathfinder', is has 'gone down' very few times. However, when it does it's usually around Xmas~the system cannot process the large volumes of work~and results in bedlam. 1. because the voice system is hopeless and 2. They have no dispatchers capable of working an open call circuit. They used to call in certain drivers to dispatch, but now revert to drivers mobile phones. On a side note, I'm told RT new PDA's will have no voice facility at all. :roll:

And I've been told their new PDA's will be introduced in Spring 2008...

Without sounding like a well known trade rep, but . . . Without a Radio Taxi's terminal in the Taxi you'll still earn a good living especially if your a nightman and work the weekend.

Without your Taxi, Radio taxi's earn nothing. :-|

Simple innit? That's why the GBC Taxi will never carry an advert as they pay peanuts to the Taxi owner and screw the advertiser for $5K per cab that's liveried.

Back to the same 'without an advert I'll keep working', 'without the taxi's advertising agencies . . . etc etc'

I can't disagree with any of that.

When the Evening Standard livery came out around 1989, the driver got £1500 p.a. Nearly 20 years later it's @£1000. Shurley shome mistake ??
