This thread is for any numpty looking to buy an Edinburgh Licence Plate - wait until March 2009.

If you have Cash on the hip? Stick an ad in the paper, word as above - Plate Wanted, Cash Waiting.

Some will be desperate to sell. Just tell them what you are prepared to pay. You will dig someone up ready to bite your hand off.

Things are getting hard for those with debt up to their eyeballs. Now make sure you can give them a helping hand, at the right time .. . .

This is for the hard of thinking with Cash available .

Some of these "businessmen" cabby types, are gonna go to the wall with debt they can't pay. If it's not the taxi and plate that takes them down then you can rest assured, it will be their Mortgage, Credit Cards and bank loans .

Trust me, they won't be waving but drowning . . . .

Whatever you do, don't buy before March, 2009. As little as a few thousand pounds could pick you up a plate. When credit dries up or you can't pay your loans, it's all about cash.

How much do you owe on your plate dug? Or are you one of the 50K crew who never sold out in time?

Dug, if things get tough give me a call in March. I'll give you cash for your plate. It will be a little short of 50k but beggars can't be choosers ... a buyers market and all that, you understand . . . . :D

You must be in a TimeWarp, me auld son. This is History in the making.

What will come out of all of this is anyone's guess. Exciting days ahead for everyone and not just the Taxi Trade. I don't think you appreciate the very magnitude of what's happening in and around the world. At the very least this country is going into recession, but think of the wider implications. The balance of power around the world is shifting. This could be very big and very bad, but exciting none the less.

I've never harped on about any of this before. The opportunity to buy a plate, (for next to nothing) is merely a by-product of things to come.

Don't shoot the messenger . . . .

Oh and btw, Jim and I had nothing do with it - totally out with our control
