An ESSO down here dropped another penny today, down to 105.9

At 49 a barrel surely we should be down on about 80p a litre.

The value of the $ to the £ is now about 75% of the value last year. 75% of 105.9 is 79.425 so that would mean the price is right, wouldn't it?

The dollar was at 1.45 to the pound for a long time then it rose sharply to two bucks, but when was that? I don't recall petrol prices decreasing in line with the decline of the dollar. Does anybody?

Regards

JD
The last time the rate was below 1.50 was June 2002. I have been buying cars and parts from the states since 2003 and I have never had a rate of below 1.65 and for a long time it was around the 1.90 - 2.00 level.

Have prices dropped - the petrolprices website info is from Thursday, but I'm sure I saw a Shell outlet in Dundee (East Marketgait) selling diesel for 99.9p

Would seem illogical though, since that one generally seems to be the cheapest anyway, and the Shell outlet at the other side of the city centre was still selling it at 105.9 a couple of hours ago.

Anyway, I think Grandad is right about the exchange rate adversely affecting fuel prices because oil is priced in dollars - during the last for years the pound has generally been worth $1.80/1.90, and although it was below that for a while it never breached $1.70. It's only in the last few months it's been in the $1.50 territory.

Every filling station in my town has exactly the same price. £91.9 for petrol and £105.9 for diesel. :? In any other unregulated business I am sure this would be seen as a cartel!

A damn hard day and night. I got a blow out in the front tyre on one of the limos at 4.15 on Saturday morning. I had to call a taxi to get the punters home.
