Hi Guys/Girls. Chatting to a passenger today he asked about Xmas Day, explained the fare structure and he told me he had contacted two local Private Hire in W2 and they were charging normal fare with a £20 premium added.

This got me thinking so I looked on the Addison Lee website for some quotes. Based on normal 4 seater car,here are there prices.

Credit Suisse Bank,E14 to Heathrow T3 £80.30
Berkeley Hotel, SW1 to Heathrow T3 £62.90
Andaz Hotel,EC2 to City Airport £25.20

I have just done those jobs for £72.80, £44.60 and £21.80.

Time for Mr Oddy, Mr Davis and others to sort out some positive advertising for the trade I think.

Just because they quote those prices doesn't mean there will be a queue a mile long to use them.

That said take the day off, spend it with the family. :wink:

Will there be any taxis working christmas day in london?
Private hire companies in london normally charge double xmas day, although my firm are charging fare and a half.

I drove through London to Sidcup a couple of years ago, there were plenty out that day.

There are always Taxis out, although I'm not sure where the main sources of work are for non circuit taxis like me?

I'm certain if you're on a Radio Taxi, you'll be doing well on Xmas day.

Yes me and hundreds of others.
Last year I couldn't help but notice the number of busy minicabs and empty taxis.
I have no doubt more so this Christmas day.

Sorry Guys, just re-read my post and didn't explain it well.

Forget Xmas Day, those prices quoted by Addison Lee were for a normal day.

Re Xmas Day, I used to work it and was busiest day of the year by far but 75% was radio work.
