This thread was started because I believed the topic deserved to be debated on its own merits. The thread "Scumbag of the year" was in jeopardy of being swamped by other topics so here you can debate the merits of buying a plate and what risks are attached to that decision. Although we may put more credence on your posts if you use your registered nick. lol

Yet another diversion, latch on to anything you can rarther than face facts.
Your contection that RISK and GAMBLE are seperate notions is wrong, by now most people would have checked my reference source and responded accordingly, but no you are so pig-headed and vain that to concede an error would flatten your massively over inflated ego beyond repair so you bluster on repeating and redressing the mistake.
I will ask you again; come up with a reference that backs your argument.
You can pile crap as high as you like and shape to look pretty but it will still stink. Your post has that distinctive aroma.

"Calculated Risk" you dummy. Don't you know the difference between a Calculated risk and a Risk. Is there one? Maybe you think there isn't a difference between the two, that makes you even more stupid than I took you for.

Consult a dictionary.
Risk: unkown hazard. UNKNOWN HAZARD.
Not even you can calculate the unknown.
No numeric value can be attached to risk, you cannot calulate a risk.

You are beyond stupidity.

You can set a value to probability or set "odds".
But RISK is GAMBLE is the unkown element of an event that does not have an exact predictable outcome.

If you toss a coin there are 2 outcomes "heads" or "tails" the only exact calculation is that the number of heads + the number of tails will equal the number of times you toss the coin. But the RISK or GAMBLE of whether it lands heads or tails is totally unknown and could never be calculated. Over 100 tosses the numer of heads and tail will be a number between: 100 heads and 0 tails and 0 heads and 100 tails. No mathematician, computer, abacus or whatever could give the exact answer. The RISK or GAMBLE cannot be calculated.
Now do you get it. I cannot think of a simpler example.

No it can't be done by the admin, even if we wished to do it.

All posts can be edited or deleted, even mine, but the author's name cannot be changed.

I most certainly have a lot better things to do anyway than change a post from a guest posting under a name, to a post under registered member. :shock:

I think the best thing to do is to delete your old user name, the posts under that will still remain, but the user name will be no more.

The automatic login under the PPHBB is probably due to something in your cache at the users end, not the BB server end.

It often catches out people who try to throw abuse around using the guest facility rather than their registered identity.

Poetic justice really.

BTW, can't the 'victim' just log in under the identity that they have appeared under and delete the post, or would this preclude the opportunity to cast a few aspersions about dirty tricks and the like.

I don't believe in "strange". I have nothing to hide and just don't bother to sign in. But I did want to keep my personal views seperate from Company views so should I register again for personal postings.


Its got nothing to do with the server "bird brain" you should take a course in computing then you wouldn't go around accusing TDO that they were trying to stitch you up. Its elementary what the problem is, So don''t accuse others of something you created yourself and didn't even know about it lol

By the way, don't give us this Bulldhit about you having nothing to hide, you used an anonymous nick becuase you didn't have the balls to use your real nick. your a Walter Mitty character who probably has three or four nicks, from now on I'm going to call you Walter because it suits you down to the ground.

why should you pay for something that was given for free. so be patient and wait for the restriction to be lifted then there is no risk/gamble as they will be free for all of us

Total nonsense.

Every financial investment is a gamble, and if restrictions are lifted you will have to make a financial investment of at least £15k, as eveyone else will be considering doing the same the risk/gamble is increased dramatically. Remember also that these plates will have no value.

The soundest business investment is in a saloon HC plate, values rarely drop and allways recover following any fall.

Gateshead saloon HC plates are now going for £18k a rise of over 300% since deregulation.

With all the talk of deregualtion and de limiting numbers I sometimes lose track of which Authorites are and which aren't. So I take it anyone can get a H/C licence in Gateshaead. Is that correct?

If it is correct, perhaps we can seperate the vehicle value from the plate value and perhaps then we will have a better understanding of how much a plate is worth in gateshead.

I just realised that they probably hold a value because of a council decision to only licence purpose built vehicles in future. Would that be correct?

Precisely - saloon plate number have never been de-regulated in Gateshead.

But some who took advantage of the dereguation of numbers in respect of WAVs (and then asked for the LA to limit them) accuse others who would like to exercise the same right as being 'jealous'.

Double standards or wot?
