Thanks for all the info it will be put to good use!

Bill_datamaster - I sent you a pm asking for another copy of the disc for the booking software, not sure if you got it though. Thanks for sending all the info its just that the disc got broke, not sure how but I think it was when I was moving some desks in the office. So would it be possible for another disc, sorry for breaking the other one!!!

Also, the main radio and aerial in the office is just awful and needs replacing but I am not sure as to where to get new ones? Ideally I want someone to come and replace the aerial and the bas station as I am not sure how to do it and am afraid of going on the roof!! The signal is great near the office and when the cars are above the height of the office, such as on the hills, but when you go in the dip even a mile away you cannot get a signal at all.

Can anyone point me in the right direction so that I can get a new bas station and aerial priced up so I can start saving up for that.

Cheers.

No problem, a replacement disc should be with you by tomorrow morning.

As for your lack of range, it may be your base is ok but the antenna might be naff or visa versa and changing either will cost roughly £350. I’m quite happy to let you have a base to try out but you’d need to ring me with your licence details. If it turns out to be the antenna then I can’t help with that, you’d need to get a local arial fitter to test that out for you.

Cheers for getting me a new disc, not had it yet tho.

I think that the aerial and the bas station are crap personally and would like to replace the both. The basestation is very old and I think it is the original basestation from when the office was started about 20-30yrs ago! I have seen a few different basestations and car radios in my time but not as old as this one!

As for getting the aerial and basestation replaced where is the best place to go in your opinion? I neeed to replace them on a small budget as I have other costs due to taking over the business.

Thanks

The disc only went out this evening so it should be with you Wednesday morning.

The base radio for just a few cars needn’t be anything special and what I was suggesting you try first was just a normal mobile and power pack. If the antenna and coax is that old, then I think you can guarantee that it will need replacing because the weather almost certainly will have got to it by now and most of your signals will be lost in the cable.

As for who and where to get them, try looking in the back of the taxi mags. I’m sure you’ll find a second hand base and power pack possibly for round the 100 mark. The antenna you don’t have a choice, you need to buy it new and get it fitted by a fitter who knows what he’s doing. Don’t know anyone in your area so again try the taxi mags or the yellow pages.

Cheers for sending me another disc bill, I got it this morning.

When I get a new monitor for the office I will set it up on my computer and have a good look at it, although that will probably be until next week.

I have had a look around in the back of the magazines and will keep my eye out for a second hand one and will check out yellow pages for an aerial fitter in my area and get it all priced up.

Cheers for the help.

Thanks for sending the disc bill, I have got it and have installed it on my laptop that is running windows xp so that I can get the hang of it.

After having a trial of it I have a few questions that I hope you can answer:

1. There is a red bar that keeps flashing 'Auto off', how do you turn that off?
2. There are areas and streets that are not listed, how do I add them?
3. How do I add 'office' so that I can list jobs from walk ins from the office?
4. If a car picks up at the office and goes o four different locations, how to you list all four locations as it only allows me to input one location?
5. How do you zoom in on the map as it does not allow this?
6. How do I get it to list all the runs for a specific time, such as a night shift only? Also, can I pull all the runs for one driver for one or more shifts only?
7. How many cars can it operate before I need to buy the software?

Sorry for so many questions bill and I appreciate your feedback.

Cheeers.

Simplest way is to ring the office and just ask it’d be far quicker and easier for both of us. All the answers are carefully hidden in the instruction book but there’s an index at the back to help you find stuff quickly. The only thing you can’t do with the demo by the way is zoom in on the map as it’s an older version that didn’t support active mapping.

It’s a big piece of software that does a lot of things so you need to dedicate some time to get set up for the way you want it to work. You need also to watch the videos again and read the instructions where you’ll find adding new addresses is the first thing listed on the index.

I’ve just bought a software package costing nearly a grand and spent the whole weekend morning till night trawling through the instructions on how to make it work for my application. You just need to perceiver and take your time then just like me you’ll wonder why you found it so hard!
