Letters page of the telegraph.

SIR- So far this week I have been invited to "pre-order a DVD" , "pre-book a taxi", and to purchase "pre-sliced onions" .

Surely, a pre ordered DVD is one that has not yet been ordered, a pre-booked taxi is one that has not yet been booked and a pre-sliced onion is one that is still stuck together.

Paul Vincefield.

Pedantic, maybe.

But where does that leave our PH signeage that state "must be pre-booked?"

I don't know any punter that looks at, and understands, what pre-booked means or implies.

Nor cares.

"Pre" means Prior to or Beforehand...so that Pre booked is to Book Prior to your actual Requirement...you cetainly could Post book a taxi or anything else, nor could Post Slice up an onion...nothing mysterious here exept for the fact that someone has such a sad life that they had to send a letter to the editor of Telegraph about it...........Geeeeeeeze...get a life!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Without resorting to pedantry myself, suggesting to someone that they should "get a life" is surely a contradiction in terms?

I think, therefore I am as Descarte said. I have a life. I cannot have two at once, although I would be interested in having another after this one.

I still think the letters author would be served better by having a Life in this their current life rather than in the hope that they might have more of a life in their next life if they should by some quirk of reincarnation come back as a human at all...it could well be that should they come back in another life that they would more than likely come back as any one of Millions of earth based life forms that share our planet, also who is to say that if your reincarnated it will be planet earth you come back to...it may be that reincarnated life or life originating from the very matter that the solar system itself is made from could in theory reappear anywhere in this solar system or indeed anywhere in the entire universe.

it would be extremely long odds that should you come back in another life that it will be anything like the life you lived before...Indeed this may be your Billionth reincarnation..However, the fact remains...that is a really sad letter to send to the editor of the Telegraph..

I shant quote descartes..however I shall quote Vicky Pollard:

"Whatevva"!!!
