Its like a farmer saying I'm not giving up my horse for a tractor.

Except, of course, to get the best of both worlds, you keep the horse for when the tractor breaks down. . . . . . . .

Can this be used in conjunction with a data head. You could use the data head in car and the PDA out of the vehicle so if you go in the house for a coffee or a bit to eat for example you don't miss anything

In regards to the Auriga Data Head (CT4000), you can use 'out of car', which will accept a hold a job for you.

Depending on how it is configured, you can be out of car for as long as you like and it can use the callback system to tell you when a job has been auto accepted by the unit so that you can go back to the car and continue working.

I have use ct3000 and CT4000 and cordic pda's.

I am still using the ct3000 unit in the vehicle, which is more stable and quicker than the (ct4000 units (a big brick on the dashboard).

Been trying out the cordic pda for the last 2 months, quite impress with the unit

We are just installing evo into our office, i am considering up-grading from our current ct 3000 to the 4000's would you not recommend this?

I think the 4000s are more suited to Evo then the 3000.

I didn't explain that very well so I'll try again, i am fully aware that the ct 4000's are better suited to the evo system. While i was at Auriga's HQ this week the staff that i took down with me were all very impressed by the 4000's, however i still have my own reservations:

1. Due to their size they appear to not sit very well on the dash.

2. Whilst using one myself i couldn't stop myself from thinking that the touch screens would be very expensive to repair/replace.

3. I have still not seen the turn by turn GPS working, is it any good?

4. My ct3000's are all paid for, am i/the drivers going to see enough benefits compared to the extra costs ?

5. Would it be more sensible for me to skip the ct 4000's and consider the pda's or just stick with the 3000's.

6. So although they are better suited to Evo do the pro's out way the con's?

Just a few of the thing's i need to consider.

1. Far too big. Thank f*** Auriga don't make mobile phones or we would still be using the ones with handles.

2. If they can be repaired.

3. Not brilliant, but I like the automatic to the job, then pick up, then to the destination bit.

4. On balance, I would say yes.

5. PDAs are only good if the mobile signal is 100% pukka all the time. Else your drivers will be chucking them out of the window.

6. If they are the PDAs, then no.

Thanks for the feedback Sussex, this type of information is most helpful.

Don't go down the PDA route mate, like Sussex said if the signal is not 100% you'll be struggling to get rid of your jobs. We are on the PDA's 99.9% of the time they are useless. I hate the mobile phone network with a passion, get in the wrong area and your stuffed. Stick with the dash mounted Data heads.
