We got a Doblo (Freedom) from Cab Direct last month and i have to say its good value and a nice drive, its a bit ugly though and i have had enough of people asking where the pope is or asking for an ice cream.

Hi Chaps
I am terribly confused please guide me.
I wanted to buy or Lease TX1 as it is traditional and attracts tourists easily but cannot afford it.
I have to have WAV so i can get HC lic from my council so Fiat Doblo is the answer *(costwise) and fowlersmotors.co.uk was the place i was going to go but reading here about Doblo and Fowlers motors have confused me a lot.
Please can you all help me to direct other cheap reasonable options .
I shall be grateful for all of you.

you dont state the important 2 details

1. your budget (per month or total)
2. your LAs age limits on hacks

you may be looking in the wrong place for your TX1

Always thought the Doblo was a stupid idea for a Hackney WAV, especially the rear wheechair loading, cant imagine drivers behind you want to leave a 6 foot gap whenever they're behind you on a rank!

They don't. You draw forward a bit to use the ramp

How does that work mid rank??? :?

It doesn't. They generally take the front cab here.
Wheelchair jobs off a rank are rarer than rocking horse sh*t anyway.

BTW, how does a side loader manage when the pavement space is limited? or the pavement is on the wrong side? :?

Same round our way, most of the WAVs are used by mothers who are to bone idle to put the pushchair down. The last wheelchair job I witnessed was last year.

Yes but its about the smallest/cheapest wav you can get with a better mpg then the vans/tx's. Some councils will still plate them. I would rather go for the VW version. The caddyvan with seats in I think?? 55 to 60 mpg. http://www.volkswagen-vans.co.uk/caddy-maxi
