A number of members have been in contact with me suggesting a collection for his family. I'm sure JD would have been touched and maybe a bit embarrassed.

What I believe JD would have appreciated was that instead of collecting a sum of money via TDO, anyone who wanted to make a contribution should simply put that contribution into the next charity box they come across.

I know I will.

Alex

It came as no surprise to me that JD had passed away. we had spoken through PM's.
it was obvious to me from his posts that he was extremely ill, but I was shocked when he told me in his way that he would not be getting better, I believe we parted on friendly terms... if not friends..
I applaud JD for all the work he has put into TDO, and all the help he has given to members that have requested help.
JD and myself have had many arguments over the years... which I have thoroughly enjoyed... I have had many hours pi**ing myself with laughter... and I would think so did he.... whether people believe it or not..... I will miss him....But I am extremely grateful at having the opportunity of meeting him through TDO.....

JD in legal terms is Juris Doctor .. which means roughly teacher of law......
but this does not mean that some Times I did not feel like strangling him.... rest in peace.

Firstly, I would like to say that I too will miss JD greatly.

I joined TDO in June 2008 & in TDO terms I suppose I am nearly at the end of my Fresher's Year.

But in the short time that I have been on TDO it became very quickly apparent that JD had an immense 'library of taxi trade knowledge' & was a great contributor & probably the greatest 'legal' contributor on TDO.

He was forthright & took no prisoners; you knew where you stood with him. He helped may, including me on a couple of occasions & I got the impression that he thoroughly enjoyed helping others in the trade.

I did not agree with all of his opinions, especially delimitation, but I respected him greatly, because it was obvious that he was a 'Scholar of the taxi trade'.

His passing is very sad indeed & I too will miss his words of wisdom & massive contributions on TDO.

Rest in Everlasting Peace JD.

I too will miss him, but thankfully every word of advice, every legal decision defined, and every pop at a local council (i.e. those that know best [-X ), will be kept on TDO for eternity.

So even though he is no longer with us, he is still probably helping far more folks than a few of our so-called trade reps.

Now I'm a little confused; I thought JD was an abbreviation of John Davies who appeared elsewhere (but don't ask me where at the mo...wrong end of the barrel!).

Is anyone able/prepared to put up an obituary on here for JD?

I must admit that I am surprised Skull and Jasbar have not made a post considering all the help Graham gave them in the past.......

I'm not sure that's what he would want, and I'm pretty sure he would be content with his posts to do any talking.

And for years to come they will still be helping drivers out, and for no charge.

I just want to reiterate what everyone else has said about JD, every post he made was a constructive & helpful one, and I am sure we have all benefited from the wealth of case law he has made available on this site
