Mercedes slogan

Quality doesnt cost you, it pays you

Ive had Fords, Citroens, Fiats, and Mercs

Nothing comes close to the Merc

90,000 miles in 2 years, only regular services and a water pump.

Would only buy a French motor for a chicken shed

Fords....so/so

Parts may be expensive for Mercs, but i never had to buy any!

Theres an independent merc servicer near the belfry if needed and a good HGV outfit at tamworth, remember, you dont need to use main dealers to maintain warranty.....

Buy a second hand one.

Lets face it, all the clowns that have dived into the trade over the last year expecting to make mega bucks are now having their new low mileage vehicles re-possesed as the reality strikes.

Harsh, but it's a fact.
Mann and Overton (London) has half of Mann and Overton (Manchesters) stock at the moment as drivers around Manchester have handed back their cabs they bought only last year.

I am not knocking the post but do not forget...........if you buy a Merc! then you are going to pay big bucks for servicing and big bucks for parts when things start going wrong.

Not if you go down the independent route  and only take it to a merc garage should you need any warranty work

You don't have to take it to a Merc dealer now days, as long as the garage you take it to is VAT registered and uses genuine Merc parts the warranty stands, Most garages will do your warranty work for you, if you show them the warranty package they'll carry out the work then bill the warranty company.

BC, please have the A/C option (front/rear split), it isnt "one day a year" at all, its every time any sunshine happens, once youve had it you wonder how you coped without it, and your passengers appreciate it, i miss cruise control and want it fitting now...

(AC standard in Tourneos)

Any taxi supplier that doesn't automatically fit air-con shows exactly how low they think of the trade.

I would probably, though reluctantly, have air con if it was a front / passenger compartment split, but only for the comfort of passengers. But the rear compartment air con is not standard & is an expensive option, if the particular manufacturer even offers it.

I have had air con in previous cars (3 litre Senator - sh*t of a shovel, to name just one), but I don't like it & it is proned to give me colds in the summer, because you are constantly changing from a cold car to a warm atmosphere & vica versa.

I couldn't speak highly enough of the Cab Direct M8-raging bonfires apart  (Replacement less than 2 weeks away)
Saying that,I would look elsewhere for a Merc, purely on the fact that Cab Direct are a bunch of tossers, how they have got so big is beyond me,given their level of customer service.
One problem with the others is the price listing and I have investigated most. The price just escalates with everything added on.It's like "Oh,you want a steering wheel sir?Well that'll be another £2000 then"
As for Air Con?An absolute must in my book.Of course there was a heatwave the week after my Merc burnt out and I was driving the TX1 with it's wonderful cool aired system!
Regards
Steve

Thanks for that Mr Smoked Glass & I have saved the website, which I did not know existed.

I spoke to Gary Hughes from discovery yesterday & I really do like their TW200 conversion, except for the door cards instead of proper door trims. Their seats are really well built & there's a dicky seat in the front that allows family to travel there for SDP (Brum does not allow front seat licensing for Hackneys) & that area as an extra luggage space too. They also let you choose air con or not.

Yes at the moment I am leaning towards the TW200, but I am too late for the special deals which have now finished. Some friends of mine had a TW200 at £20K exactly, got £2K for the old one, won £1K at the Coventry taxi show in May & put another £1K down in cash, leaving £16k on finance, which is no money.
