Thats simple, we invest 3 years of study and commit to a DSA test, wheelchair test, we can speak English, we know where we are going, we have to drive purpose built vehicles that take wheelchairs.

Minicab drivers turn up, sign a form and take to the road in a clapped out Astra.

Thats why we have a right to Bus Lanes over them.

Professional v Amatuer.

Passengers know this and have a choice.

The knowledge only gives you the right to ply for hire not use of the bus lanes. Black cabs have no right to any competitive advantage by using the bus lanes over private hire. The vast majority of londoners cannot even access a Taxi due to lack of coverage why should they face discrimination because they use the only licensed car service available?

I think the problem is best summed up by these facts.

I have never done, nor intend to do, the London knowledge, yet I'm fully able to drive my vehicle in any London bus lane that allows taxi access.

A London licensed PH can fully access any bus lane in my area that allows taxi access.

With that in mind it's a total disgrace that the London licensed PH trade can't access London bus lanes that allow taxi access. [-(

Naaaaa

WTF should PH use bus lanes.....PH is a choice the punter makes when making a phone call, especially in 'that' London where you can have the pleasure of being driven by a person with no grasp of the English language and maybe a few short weeks ago was busy shooting at British troops, or maybe even driving a Donkey.

Is that controversial?

As usual you fail to answer point. The fact is Black Cabs have been given an unlawful competitive advantage. Doing the knowledge has nothing to do with Bus Lanes, Black Cabs blockaded Bus Lanes to get access in the 1970's.

Addison Lee has not been taken to court for using the M4 Bus Lane. The fact that only 192 complaints have been received by the PCO (probably the whole London RMT Taxi Branch membership)shows it is only major issue to those who stand to lose the most (Taxi Drivers at Heathrow).

Dizzy Destroyer?

Yeah sure. :D

If you want access to Bus Lanes, become a Bus driver.

If us having access doesn't sit well with you, never mind, speak to the powers in City Hall that have said you're not getting access.

Good luck!

Controversial?

Sadly no, it's called the reality of the underdogs that make up London's Minicab industry.

I'm still counting the months until one of them blows himself up in a high profile location.

Thanks for the advice, but the meeting is already arranged for next month where the real power is held for London's Bus Lanes. I would like to tell you but those RMT boys and their toys just love to call a demo (Beano @ The Dogget's).

Oh there's no need to thank me Mr Destroyer, but whilst you're there, ask Boris about his election promise. :-$

I'm well aware the Railway folks like a good demo, but I'm not always sure what they're about, I suspect they may not either.

hi, GBC perhaps you can advise us are London black cabs still given a 4% increase yearly because they have done the knowledge,if so for how many years have you received this and has it compensated you for the time spent on your bike. Perhaps the customers have over many years repaid you for your trouble.
