I've been doing it since the mid 80's, never has there been so many problems as there has been in the last 3 -6 years, look for the common denominator.

Minicab driver pleads not guilty to knife possession at Hendon Magistrates court today

A MINICAB driver will face trial at a crown court on charges he was in possession of a knife.

Krysztof Chaszczyn, of Bell Lane, Hendon, appeared at Hendon Magistrates Court today to enter a not guilty plea.

Dressed in a beige jacket and jeans, the 36-year-old, who is originally from Poland, spoke in broken English to confirm his name and address. His defence solicitor confirmed the not guilty plea to magistrates.

Prosecutor for the crown, Peter Lock, told the court Mr Chaszczyn was stopped by police on October 27 while driving his minicab in Golders Green.

A search of the vehicle uncovered a three inch metal lock knife in the glove box.

When questioned about it by officers , Mr Lock said the defendant responded by saying: “It was for opening things - It is not mine, it is a friend's from Poland.”

Chair of the bench, Tyrell Lewis, confirmed the court did have the jurisdiction to oversee the case and potentially pass sentence, but asked the defendant if he wished to have a hearing in front of a judge and jury in a higher court of law.

He indicated that he wanted the trial to take place at crown court.

He was released on unconditional bail to return to Hendon Magistrates Court on December 15 where a date will be set for his first appearance at Wood Green crown court.

Yes...for opening up big holes in people.

Not sure why you added this case to the thread CC, but seeing as it's here, may as well comment! Thing is...these stories very rarely have the full facts. Why wasn't the knife kept in a toolbox, in the boot? Was there any other reason to "pull him". Does he have any "history"? Was he working at the time? Must admit... I've got my noose ready...but I'll keep it in my glove box just for now.

I guess that there will be "more meat put on the bones" of the story as time passes, but from the article there are a couple of irrefutable questions which I believe must be asked. First...how on Earth are people who cannot speak English still being allowed to obtain a licence?! Second...who is going to foot the bill for the court case(s)?!

I added it rather than make a new post and I thought this was a minicab driver bashing thread.

I thought it was quite typical that the driver concerned wore a beige jacket though.

Yes, a give away for criminal types. Only second to stripey shirts, a mask and a bag marked "SWAG".

This same thing has happened tonight locally, outside a pub and the driver has driven off, could be he hasn't realised he hit someone up in the air  anyway the LO's have been in the office tonight data reading the GPS to find out who it was and I suspect he'll be looking for a new job on monday, I'll update if and when I find out more, either way whether it's a foriegn driver or a British one.

Been quite eventful tonight, nearly got rammed by a Range "Gangsta" Rover, the driver of couldn't see either me or the car behind me as he approached like Tiff Needel on a track, I think he was French tbh, cos he was on our side of the road as well

PHC modded at the rear to show exposed spare wheel tub, private car modded at the front, on a roundabout, the private car would've qualified for the scrappage scheme, now it's a certainty, only it'll be AXA rather than the Government sending the 2k to him.

Stupident let me take him further than his money allowed, I know it was a mugoff cos he asked how much it was gonna be when he got in, as it was 2am and I didn't have time to waste messing around for a quid I told him to let me have it next time, which o'course will never happen.

Had a fella wanting me to go shopping for him while he waited in the car, yeah right!
