Does that spirit extend to supporting a London Football Club though Don?

I've heard your allegiances lye a few miles North of London, about 250 miles.

Londoner's bond? As an 'outsider' I can well and truly say after working in London for 21 years I see little evidence of that.

If you introduce yourself to a neighbour in London, they're off phoning the Police as they thing you're up to something.

Anyway, back to the Bus Lanes.

OK folks, I have enjoyed the banter,now for the serious bit. Its been 6 months since this topic was first aired,and to date not one court summons in respect of travelling in a restricted lane has been issued
I would ask again ? why are the authorities delaying in bringing court proceedings ,what are they worried about. Perhaps the authorities have realised that they are on rocky ground and are trying to avoid being further embarrassed. Watch out for this months PRIVATE HIRE AND COURIER MAGAZINE article ,should liven the arguments up a bit, once read perhaps we can debate further.

I dont think the pirates will get in bus lanes as they will have to have a metre ,do the knowledge and call them selves taxis ....If they ever get in the bus lanes the buses would be slowed down evryone knows that ,

You don't get summonsed for a Bus Lane offence Don, it's a Non Endorsable FPN which is paid by the driver receiving it from a Police Constable.

If the Local Authority issue one via CCTV or a CEO, it's a PCN which the driver either pays or contests through PACAS.

You're placing too much faith in John Griffen. He's a Minicab operator, not a law lord, he's doing it for publicity for his company.

HMMM, PERHAPS YOU HAVE A POINT. BUT IF YOU ARE REFUSING TO PAY,THEN YOU BECOME A PERSISTENT OFFENDER AND ARE SUMMONED TO COURT,for non-payment, a persistent offender is dealt with in this way so as to provide a legal basis for recovery of costs and disbursements in relation to the number of offences committed.

BUSES, dont get slowed down by traffic. JUST ASK THE PUBLIC ABOUT ROUTES 65 and C10 apparently they dont even get going!! :lol:

How can there be thousands due when the Police cannot enforce the M4 Bus Lane through the nature of its design?

When do Minicabs illegally use the lane? (apart from the clown at 3am who got stopped)

In the busy periods when the lane 1 & 2 are gridlocked, and the Bus Lane is flowing at 60.

How would you propose the Police stop a car in the outside lane of a Motorway and get them across two lanes of stationary traffic onto the hard shoulder?

They can't, and that’s the only reason Minicabs are trying it on.

Where are they in town where the lanes are enforced by CCTV? :?

No where to be seen.
And that’s eagerly looking for a case to take to Europe?
Don't make me laugh, that's two bob cowards taking advantage of a H&S issue on the M4.

One day sometime not too far into the future, there will be camera enforcement on the M4, and once the fines start rolling in, that'll be it.

The Police have told you its illegal, the PCO have issued a notice telling you its illegal, the Highways Agency have reiterated the law, FFS, does John Griffin think he's re-writing the constitution?

THE Private Hire Board is continuing to forge ahead with its campaign for private hire vehicle access to London’s bus lanes and recently announced it will be making a deputation to the Transport and Environment Committee of the London Councils early in December. Four members of the board are expected to make the presentation at the meeting scheduled for 10th December, which will be held at the London Councils offices in Southwark Street, South East London.



Board secretary, Patrick Raeburn, told PHC: “The time has come for all of London’s travelling public, using TfL licensed private hire services, to enjoy equal access to Bus Lanes. This a case of discrimination and we seek to compete for the benefit of the public, in a way that is fair to all.”

So the first shots are being fired in this battle of TFL access lanes (bus lanes.) This is a case that can only succeed because of clear discrimination against large sections of the Public in the way that transport is available to them. As i see it ,The private hire operators and drivers are fully acknowledged as being a recognised travel provider by TFL and yet are prohibited from using the bus lanes ,whilst other forms of TFL approved vehicles are.This is discrimination and must surely be rectified.

Would they like me to draw them a map so they don't get lost?

Tell them it's sort of near to the London Eye.

That should give them a rough idea. :D

Of course the 'Private Hire Board' is none other than John Griffen.

It even uses Griffens home address in Welling as it's business address.

So why not call it 'The Addison Lee Board'?

Tell us what Kensington and Chelsea said in reply to his request for access to Bus Lanes Don! :wink:
