again you are wrong,REMEMBER TFL commissioned a traffic flow survey, which conclusively proved that the admission of private hire vehicles would have no real effect on traffic flows. They also revealed that the public were not entering bus lanes even when allowed by timed regulation, and that copy catting would not be an issue.

what would PH like next in order to "level the playing field" ? the right to ply for hire ? Ranks ? free reign to rank at stations ?

It's simple, PH have their regulations, we have ours. Until very recently you as PH didn't have to follow any guidlines, you had no enforcement and very little in the way of officialdom dictating what you could and couldn't do. You get regulated and now feel you are entitled to the same privilages. I notice you don't call for a printer to be fitted or only specific tyres on your vehicles ? I notice there is no call for a fixed tariff beyond your control or an enforced retro-fit exhaust system ?

Why don't you concern yourself with more serious issues like a large number of your membership touting or the fiasco that is the CRB check for foreign workers ?

If you want access to the bus lanes get in touch with stagecoach or do the knowledge.............privilages have to be earn't, not bought with a cheap subsciption to PH magazine and a green sticker found in cornflake packets.

I'm sick to death of wannabe amateurs professing they do the same job as me and wanting the same rights i have but yet refuse to train like a professional. Do the job properly or not at all!

I'm not sure PH really care to much over the right to ply, other than the naughty boys that tout. :? As for the rights to 'rank' at stations, in many places outside of London that already happens.

But IMO the bus lane issue is an equality issue, I agree London PH don't do the knowledge, but neither have I, and I can drive my vehicle in your bus lanes all day long.

Even if I do hate the bloody place.

Acabbie you've done the knowledge but you know nothing. There is no specialist skill to driving in a bus lane. I encountered no diffculties at all on the M4, in fact the traffic officers I saw waved.

You have no right to a bus lane , sitting on a bike for 4 years doing the knowledge (why did it take you so long)gives you one right to ply for hire. 'Professional' don't make me laugh you and your colleagues 'broom' jobs that you dont want. Unable to compete you have been wiped out across most of London, you bleat like sheep fearing the arrival of PH at Heathrow. Your own radio circuits screw you .The public have voted with their feet your political allies are fast disappearing. Whatever happened to Boris being your man. By your rantings you must be from the RMT, still plotting in the Green Room on LTDF

PH is bus lanes will reduce you to what you really are The American Tourists novelty attraction.

When they disappear I'll buy you a primark suit and you can drive a Galaxy or a Sharan.

Depends on how long you obviously consider my opinion valid! Does 3 years count ? perhaps 6 ?

Let me know if i meet you requirements for an opinion by the years i've been doing the job then i'll get back to you!

In the mean time, stop that shouting, you'll give yourself a hernia!

lmao..........i like your style mate.Where does it say 4 years ? It took me 3 years, about average for someone working 2 years full time and spending the final year on it full time.

Regards specialist skill to drive down the M4 bus lane; perhaps not but the dimwit in the PH car that nearly took out a biker a while back certainly looked like he could do with some additional training. As for the officers waving, they were probably trying to flag you down having seen you nearly take out the biker!! ;)

As for brooming! You know nothing about me so please don't preach to me about brooming. I detest it as much as many of my colleagues, i work the hours i choose and take the customers where they want to go; hardly rocket science but i've sussed it pretty well. When i'm finished my light goes off and i head home.

I don't think i'm ranting, merely putting across my opinion, like your good self and D.Glave i have a free entitlement to it. As for being a member of the RMT, i fail to see what this has on the discussion ? I was until very recently a member of the LTDA, does that go for or against me ?

As for a tourist attraction, maybe so in the future, i don't have a crystal ball and certainly don't profess to know what will happen.

If you're buying the suit i'd prefer Hugo Boss and to be driving a Merc.............cheers ;)

Having been driving for 22 years i'd say i'm pretty experienced.

Of course i agree all opinions are valid, doesn't make then right!

Let me ask you one thing about bus lanes. What do you fear from NOT having access to them ? Do you worry that PH drivers will lose lucrative account work ? Do you get concerned that the public see you as an inferior service ? What is it that makes you want access to bus lanes so badly ?

You don't work on a metered principle so being stuck in traffic has no bearing on the fare! The jobs are distributed via radio so i would imagine the nearest job goes to the nearest car thereby removing the need to get there in a hurry; indeed by virtue of how PH work and the control being in contact with the account that in itself would negate the need to hurry as you can call the account and tell them how long their car will be.

You mention a level playing field but i fail to see of what real benefit it would be to you other than cause more congestion in the bus lanes and no doubt endear you to the travelling public.

Touche , apologies for adding an extra year and accusing you of brooming. You hate it as much as I hate touting.

As for the suit ,we have limited funds in PH so I can only go as far as French Connection and you can have a Vito with top sign and taxi markings removed.(you can keep the partition as we can have them now)

the crazy thing is, you hate touting as much as we do so why not get it sorted. Surely access to bus lanes should be way down the to do list when there are far more serious issues likes touting and the crazy partial CRB checks of foreign drivers to deal with ?

I often hear Steve Wright or John Griffin on the various media pontificating about the bus lane yet they remain strangely silent when it comes to the issue of touting. I've seen a fair few AL drivers touting, surely if they are not POB the system must know where they are via GPS so why turn a blind eye to this practice ? The PH house has much to do to get it's house in order; trust me we could do with a good clean out too but i just fail to see the urgency of getting access to the bus lanes.

It may not have a bearing on a PH fare but it certainly has one on his next fare, if he's stuck in traffic all day he's not going to make much money is he. What would you say if they turned round and said HC can use the bus lanes but not when empty? Then your meter would be off. What disadvantage would it be to you if PH were allowed to use the bus lanes if the general public then stuck to the law and stayed out of them? Why would people who profess to make loads of money be so a***d hoping someone else doesn't.

Pretty sure the large PH ops don't want their vehicles touting.

Not being a London person do Addison Lee vehicles tout? :?
