You are having a laugh arn't you. MPs can have lots of people write to them with opposite views on matters. How can your MP represent both sides at the same time?

MPs can have lots of people writing to them with different points of view... but normally they don't... if they get one or two they will show some interest...... 5 to10 they start getting excited...... 50 to100 or more then they are on a mission...... your obviously not a political animal....

I am just saying that just because you write to your MP it doesn't mean that s/he has to represent your view. They may pass your concerns to the relevent department and they may be able to sort some problems out for you. But when it comes to Issues" that can change laws it is a different matter. So if you are writing to your MP asking them to see if they can help change a law then it is a different matter. MPs often get involved with local disputes. We have a case at the moment. Vodaphone want to put up a mast next to some shops. The "local" residents don't want it, well some of them don't but some of them do want it. Now both sides have written to our MP. How on earth can he support both sides and represent the views of both?

I think chances of changing this bill are nill.

The chances of influencing the % of WAVs in each particular area is 50/50.

But one has to bear in mind once the bill becomes law, loads of new WAV taxi plates will be issued in areas that don't have a 100% WAV taxi fleet.

Does anyone have a link to this survey form AS A WHOLE SURVEY FORM, rather than the 'fill in this page first before you can see the next page' format that is on the IoL website?

I am trying to print the whole form off before considering my answers, but their system seems to lock onto your computer's IP address & does not let you see pages of the survey / omits pages of the survey depending on your answer to a specific question.

I don't like that carry on & it won't let you go back to try & change your previous answer to bring up the missing page / pages & keeps redirecting you to the last page you answered.

What have the IoL to hide?

Not an open & transparent way to carry out a survey IMO!!!!

It even keeps you locked onto the last page you answered if you close down all windows & restart your computer.

I'm not liking this non-transparency one bit!!!!

That is the type of reply that should be sent through to the Ministry of Transport

MPs are your voice to speak on national matters... they are also your Direct Line with government bodies.... you are mixing up local issues with national issues.... I have spoken to many MPs over the years .. and they have done a great deal to help the taxi trade when asked......

As for Vodafone.... they can place a temporary aerial on site by applying for emergency planning permission which will last for six months and then reapply at the end of that...
I had a Vodafone mast on site for two years before it had to be removed, it really is a local issue....

Coming from Brighton and Hove I can well understand your lack of the fighting spirit, I was going to say it's not over until the fat lady sings..... but there seems to be quite a few of them in Brighton every day.......

The reason I'm not going to fight the bill isn't because I lack the will to fight, or think it would be a waste of time (although I do), it's because I support the amendment and wish it was put in place tomorrow.

And if your MP also supports it he will not speak out against it no matter how many letters he gets. Unless of course you are Mr T.

Well I think the trade has got a great future.

We have been/still are in the worst recession for a generation or more. Yet the trade hasn't been decimated.

So when it does pick up, and it will, we will all be able to fill our boots. \:D/ \:D/ \:D/

I sincerely hope you're right...... But my common sense tells me you'll be doing long hours for less money because there will be a great deal more people out there.... probably private hire.....

Maybe that's what they want. In my experience there's always been an underlying desire (not sure that's the right word, but, I'll go with it anyway) apart from the one being expressed
